Feel a bit tight across your shoulders or have that familiar lower back ache from sitting hunched over your computer?
Most of us within RBI are deskbound at our workstation and don’t move much at all during our working day. You might get up every so often to make a drink or go and speak to a colleague, but is it really enough?
Deskercise gives you a basic set of simple stretching exercises that you can do at, or near your desk which will only take ten minutes of your time.
Why do a bit of Deskercise?
Desk jobs have some pretty adverse effects on our bodies, and to make the most out of the workplace, there are some basic exercises that can keep us active and remind us to keep an eye on our posture in between our work deadlines.
We now know that sitting for long periods of time is bad for our health, regardless of how much exercise we do. But it is also bad for our bodies in terms of our range of movement; our muscles shorten, hip flexors stiffen, blood supply to our muscles is depleted and pressure is put on our spines. In fact, recent studies also reported that excessive sitting softens the skeleton.
